Rex

Rex is a 3 ½ year old German Shepherd-Husky Cross.  I found him as Dog #371 at Calgary Animal Services in October 1996.

Being part Husky, Rex loves to run and pull.  I am convinced that my right arm is longer than my left!  To satisfy his need to run, Rex runs about five kilometers a day on a Springer bike attachment.  During the winter, we skijor
(he puts on a sledding harness and pulls me on cross-country skis).

Rex has a very bouncy, happy-go-lucky temperament.  He loves meeting people - especially kids.  Rex is quite the lady's man.  A lot of CAA members with female dogs may already know this!

We took our first agility lesson in August 1997.  However, we have been training seriously since March 1998.  It's been a challenge but it's always been a lot of fun.  It's been so rewarding to watch Rex progress from just running around to zipping through courses.  We started competing in May 1999 and already have a couple of qualifying runs.  We love coming out to the Fezdome in winter and summer.

Rex's favorite obstacles are jumps and tunnels.  Recently, he seems convinced that contact zones are something to avoid.  In fact, he's sticking out his tongue in the picture of the seesaw!  What a boy!
